Alex Rodriguez completely butchered Cam Schlittler’s name

New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler has the kind of name that can trip anyone up. On Sunday, former Yankee star Alex Rodriguez fell victim to some accidental mispronunciations during FOX’s MLB pregame show.

Rodriguez was discussing the importance of Schlittler as the Yankees tried to get back into the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. However, he tried to go a little bit too fast, and wound up with a whole host of mispronunciations.

Rodriguez initially referred to the Yankee pitcher as “Schittless,” then “Schittler.” He never actually got it right, prompting him to give up and commit to simply referring to the pitcher as “Cam” going forward.

Schlittler has made a name for himself as a rookie thanks to his dominant outing against the Boston Red Sox during the AL Wild Card series. Unfortunately, it is not yet enough of a name that it isn’t tripping people up on live television.

Don’t worry too much, A-Rod. Kendrick Perkins certainly knows what this feels like and can probably empathize.
