John Cena's Final WWE Match: Gunther Revealed as Opponent

According to The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, though — first shared in July by WRKD Wrestling — Gunther is planned to be John Cena’s final opponent. Two sources confirmed to Meltzer that there is a plan to have a tournament to see who is going to be his final opponent, which will be won by the former WWE World Champion. Meltzer said:

“Two sources have confirmed that the latest plan is for a tournament to be announced, possibly on the air by Paul Levesque, with top wrestlers vying to be Cena’s last opponent. But multiple have confirmed however it reaches the conclusion, that Gunther was the person chosen for the match.” (h/t: WrestlePurists)

Gunther has been out of action since losing the WWE World Championship to CM Punk (then Punk lost it quickly to the current champion Seth Rollins) at SummerSlam. Gunther went into the match with an already existing issue with his nose, but to get it fixed, he was written off TV by getting “injured.” The injuries were a “septal hematoma and orbital blowout fracture.”

Anyway, Cena has never faced Gunther. So it will be interesting to see how the match turns out.

John Cena Set To Be In Action This Saturday

Cena is set for this Saturday, October 11, to face AJ Styles at Crown Jewel: Perth. The match should be better than what happened in his last match. He last wrestled at Wrestlepalooza on September 20 against Brock Lesnar. The match saw him get absolutely destroyed by Lesnar. He was destroyed by several F5s, and that led fans to be angry. Even Cena’s father was upset about the match as well as how his son's heel turn went.
