We got gameplay, real release dates, and enough spine-tingling content to keep horror fans busy well into 2026. With over 100 games mentioned, some with demos, full gameplay, or future release dates, here is a list that will show you what you can expect.

Heavy Hitters That Made Us Jump

  • Painkiller: 3D Realms isn’t messing with the Horror Game Awards Halloween Showcase, with this game returning this October 21st. The new gameplay trailer showcased fast-paced co-op action that’ll have up to three players teaming up against literal demon hordes. Four distinctive characters, each with their own abilities, fighting through hell itself. (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam)
  • PSYCHO DEAD: MOON CATALYST brings this unsettling terror that could be the generation’s sleeper hit. You play as Elixia, a mysterious girl with psychic powers, trying to escape from a secret lab. It’s giving serious Silent Hill vibes with a fresh twist. The fact that there’s already a demo available on Steam? Chef’s kiss.
  • CONTAMINANT: M3at Bicycle’s third-person action horror title is set in an alternate post-Soviet reality, and the premise alone is captivating. Playing as Maria, you’re trapped in your grandfather’s factory, uncovering family secrets through brutal combat and twisted puzzles. The “surreal realms of abominations” part? Yeah, that’s going straight to the wishlist.

The Atmospheric Nightmares

  • Cosmic Fear: Alessandro Guzzo dropped a new demo on Steam. The game promises to make you live your worst nightmares in dark forests, ancient castles, and abandoned villages. It’s psychological horror done right, with that creeping dread that follows you even after you turn off the game.
  • After Lights Out: POQI STUDIO is doing psychological horror with a first-person perspective. Waking up in an unfamiliar room with fragmented memories, including your own identity? That’s the kind of existential terror that keeps you up at night, wondering if you locked the front door.
  • Ghost Sector: Polygon Crypt unveiled a new trailer that genuinely impressed at the Horror Game Awards Halloween Showcase. This sci-fi horror title is getting a demo just in time for Halloween, and the timing couldn’t be better. The blend of sci-fi elements with horror aesthetics looks like it could fill the Dead Space-shaped hole in our hearts.

  • Projekt Z: Beyond Order: 314 Arts is bringing the gaming world a WWII horror with a twist – you’re dealing with the undead as one of four survivors in fast-paced missions. Each character has unique abilities and roles in co-op play, which means this could actually be the horror game that gets your friends to stop playing battle royales for five minutes.
  • Pulsebreaker: Anthony David Valles showed up with a new gameplay trailer featuring citywide zombie outbreak action. Sure, zombies aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but sometimes you just want to bash some undead skulls with friends, you know?

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

  • THEY ARE HERE: PQube is releasing a first-person horror game that brings back the classic alien paranoia. You play as Tyler, a journalist going to interview witnesses on a farm about their claims of experiencing extraterrestrial episodes. Crop circles, lights in the sky, and static radios? Yes, please. The demo is available on Steam.
  • Who Are You!?: Horror Game Awards Halloween Showcase allowed Haunting Humans Studios to present a sci-fi psychological experience that was inspired by real-life alien investigations. You play as a husband in search of his missing wife, who may (or may not) have been abducted by aliens. Get ready for eerie and dark atmospheric paranoia.

The Throwbacks That Hit Different

  • Echograph: Pappy’s Pipe Dream is positioning itself as a throwback to classic survival horror, and that’s exactly what we need right now. Playing as Layla, the sole survivor of a night that claimed her entire family, this one’s going for that old-school terror that doesn’t rely on jump scares every thirty seconds.
  • Fear the Spotlight and Eyes of Hell: Blumhouse Games gave a brief but lasting impression of both, depicting with retro graphics and an unsettling atmosphere that will get under your skin.
  • Crisol: Theater of Idols and SLEEP AWAKE: These games are available as demos with more realistic graphics in the first-person perspective. Doing a 180 on the previously mentioned releases, these two will deliver on creepy creatures that want to get up close and personal with the gamers. When Blumhouse puts its name on something, you know it’s going to mess with your head in the best possible way.
