The NBA has just a week left in the season. I am not sure how I feel about the play-in tournament, but I guess it is effective in terms of adding more interest to the close of the season.
Our Man Matt Wiesenfeld got the first matchup right, San Diego State over Florida Atlantic. Let's see how he does in the UConn-Miami nightcap.
We took the day off yesterday. There were just a couple of NBA games plus it was Opening Day for MLB, so I feel like it was justified. Going back to Wednesday though, we added another winning day for the week.
After a losing night to start the week, it was good to get back on track last night. Memphis won but just came up a little short on the spread, while Toronto won with ease. Let's keep it going tonight.
I hate starting off the week with a losing effort. That is what happened last night though. We split on the side plays but for some reason, Christian Wood barely saw the floor in the Mavs win last night.
Last week was a bad week, but we closed strong on Friday with a 2-0 record ... yes, D'Angelo Russell was a DNP so our prop pick was moot. We just had a wild weekend to set up the Final Four and I am pretty stoked about it even though my bracket is still up in flames.
This week went from bad to worse last night, an 0-3 evening. Thankfully those are rare and it was not a total loss if you followed by NCAA Sweet 16 side plays, 3-1 ATS over there to help soften the blow a little. There is more Sweet 16 action this evening but it is going to be hard to top those games.
Despite a bad start to the week, and a light slate of NBA games, we like these plays for tonight.
Houston has not dominated as expected in this Tournament because its top player, Marcus Sasser, has been hurt. The Cougars have endured though and the more time Sasser has the better, so the best shot to "get" the Cougars might have already come and gone.
The East is wide open thanks to the top multiple top seeds going down early, most notably Purdue, who lost to Fairleigh Dickinson in their opener. Now the favorite is a team nobody is ever really comfortable backing: Tennessee.
Ughh ...Yesterday was another losing day (1-2). But with 10 NBA games to choose from tonight, I like my chances of getting back to winning.
As has been the case all season long, Alabama is getting overshadowed in the South Region even though the Crimson Tide is the top seed.
When you come back from hiatus, you want to come back strong. Alas, we posted just a 1-2 record last night. Indiana fell apart late and lost while Memphis came up just short in their win.
Well there is not going to be a repeat champion this college basketball season. Arkansas knocked off Kansas in the round of 32 this weekend, really opening up this bracket.
Tonight we are still a few nights away from the return of the NCAAs so hopefully we can find some winners to keep adding to that bankroll. We have six NBA games to choose from.
Purdue is the top seed in the East Region, and they deserve it. However, if they are going to get to the Final Four though, at some point they are probably going to have to play the likes of Kentucky or Duke.
Houston has felt like a shoo-in for the Final Four all season long, but now Marcus Sasser is dealing with an injury. Can they win without him?
Alabama is rated the top seed for the Tournament. If the Crimson Tide are going to win it all they are going to have to get past a couple of recent champs though with Virginia and Baylor, also in the South Region.
It all depends on who you like, but it is hard to make a case that any region is more difficult than the West this year.
Yesterday was another 2-1 winning day and we are looking to close the week with another one. Sometimes we get a little greedy expecting bad teams to come through for us.
We added another winning day yesterday. Atlanta might have come up short in their win against Washington, but the Cavaliers came through and Aaron Gordon was productive in a surprising Denver loss.
Yesterday was a draw. Walker Kessler was a scratch last night and we went 1-1 with our side picks on the day. Orlando was a no-show against the Bucks, even though they scratched some key players, meanwhile, Detroit played Washington to the wire in a loss.
Alabama has been one of the best teams in the nation for most of the season yet the SEC storylines have been more about problems at Kentucky, injuries at Arkansas, or whether this is finally the year for the Vols.
It has been an interesting season for the Big East. Creighton was supposed to be the best team in the league coming into the year and has at times shown that potential, but also has disappointed.
For most of the Big Ten season, Purdue has been considered the top team. Not just in the conference, but in the nation. However, there are lots of quality teams in the Big Ten. So who comes out on top?
