Undefeated boxers Abdullah Mason and Sam Noakes face off for the vacant WBO Lightweight Title on November 22, as we preview the upcoming fight.

Mason enters the title fight with a stoppage victory against Jeremia Nakathila. That extended his knockout streak to ten stoppages on the spin. His best wins have come against the likes of Jeremia Nakathila and Manuel Jaimes. Now, he has the chance to secure the vacant belt which was freed up after Keyshawn Davis was stripped for failing to make weight for his Edwin De Los Santos fight that was subsequently canceled. Meanwhile, Noakes arrives into the bout with a stoppage win over Patrik Balaz. That was his second stoppage victory from his last three fights. All his fights have been in the UK, as he boxes in Riyadh, Saudi, in the biggest bout of his career.

Pre-Fight

“[They’ll see] that I been holding back. Everybody that I been in the ring with, they been going out a certain way, and I wanna do the same thing to him at this level. That means that I’m a have to have a little bit more output and put a little more on him. After this fight everybody gonna say, ‘Oh, man, he must’ve been holding back because he ain’t put this on nobody else before this. “People see a full package when they watch me fight. They know I have a certain skill set and talent. And the punching power is something that comes with it that puts it all together,” Mason said

The Approach

Mason will rely on his speed, southpaw angles, and technical precision. He will look to maintain a mid-to-long range, utilizing his superior hand speed to deliver combinations. Against a relentless pressure fighter like Noakes, Mason must use his footwork and lateral movement to stay off the ropes and avoid getting drawn into a stationary brawl. His left hand will be crucial for punishing Noakes as he steps in, and he will look to time Noakes with straight counters.

Noakes’ tactic will be to cut off the ring immediately, forcing Mason to fight backward and denying him the space needed to deploy his faster hands and footwork. Noakes is a body puncher, and he will systematically target Mason’s midsection with heavy hooks and uppercuts. His recent stoppage victory over Patrik Balaz exemplifies his style.
