It’s been years since boxing has had any good video games, and this week, one was released for gaming counsels and computers. Earlier today, Adrian Clark, CEO of Fighters First Management, announced that he is officially part of the mobile boxing game “Boxing Manager,” available on both IOS and Android systems.
The following was sent via a press release earlier today:
“Experienced professional boxing manager Adrian Clark, currently CEO of Fighters First Management, has partnered with Boxing Manager game creator Alexander Deacon. Clark will lend his hard-won skills managing fighters such as WBO World Welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. and world heavyweight title contender Otto Wallin to the game’s ongoing development.
“Boxing Manager is a detailed simulation that introduces players to the business side of the sport. Managers (players) can sign fighters, hire trainers, negotiate fight contracts, and host boxing events to help build their clientele.”
Speaking to FightsATW exclusively, Clark goes into the origin story and how he gives the game an instant boost of credibility.
“I would consider myself a gamer, but I don’t like to actually play the game,” said Clark. “I’m more of a “Franchise mode” type of guy with the trades, salary cap, signing a free agent, etc. I was googling the phrase “boxing manager,” and this game kept coming up. Looking more into it and downloading it while playing the game, I’m like, ‘man, this is exactly what we do from a boxing manager’s standpoint. How do they know all of this? This has to be someone who used to be a boxing manager or has been around the business.’
“I literally reached out to the business page. Someone contacted me on LinkedIn, and it was Alex [Deacon]. For a month straight, we were on a call every week with new ideas to make the game more and more realistic. With me coming on board now, it really gives the game legitimacy as there is a real boxing manager in it.”
Clark is now part of the game and has big ideas for making “Boxing Manager” as authentic as possible. He even challenged those on social media who claim to be “fan-agers” to play the game and show him via direct messaging how well they are or aren’t handling a fighter’s career. With Clark on board, this adds a nice wrinkle to the boxing gaming world, where it’s based on not just the fight itself but everything before and after it.
