Curiel: ‘We Will Go Into the Fight With That Challenger Mentality’

“It’s great to be here,” said Curiel via an interpreter at the press conference. “It’s an opportunity to defend my title. We trained as champions, but we will go into the fight with that challenger mentality. I’m delighted to defend my title on home soil and I’m looking forward to defending on Friday night.”

Nontshinga: ‘I’ve Trained So Hard’

“It feels great to be here,” said Nontshinga. “It’s been a long time coming. I’ve been working so hard and I promise to grab this opportunity with both of my hands. It’s such a great atmosphere. I’ve met such kind people. I’m looking forward to Friday.”

Big Fight Weekend Prediction

Curiel winning by knockout in the first fight came as a shock. Part of the reason is he only had four wins by stoppage up until that point. Additionally, Nontshinga was seen as a fighter with promise, making a routine title defence going into that bout. The “Special One” should be better prepared this time and not make the same mistake that saw him hit the canvas in the first fight.
