Rising powerhouse Aloys Youmbi takes on British contender Ellis Zorro at cruiserweight on Saturday night in what could be a complete mismatch if Zorro isn’t at his best.
Youmbi (10-1, 9 KO’s) has already made jaws drop with his power, aggression, and fearlessness. The Cameroonian-born slugger has been steamrolling almost every opponent he’s faced so far in the pro ranks, and with an opponent that’s ten years older than him, many believe he will be increasing his knockout numbers this Saturday.
Zorro (18-2, 7 KO’s) has struggled to convince at the top level having been knocked out in his last couple of fights, in round one against Jai Opetaia, and then in the eighth round by Chev Clarke. Zorro’s best win came against Hosea Burton, a solid pro in his prime, but well past it by the time Zorro scraped past him. So really, he is nothing more than British and Commonwealth level.

Up to now, Youmbi looks like the real deal. He has frightening physicality and a seek-and-destroy approach which every fan can get behind because of the excitement he brings. He knows it only takes one shot for him to finish a fight.
The only hope Zorro has is to stay on his bike and try to frustrate Youmbi with movement and a high guard, but even that’s optimistic. Zorro doesn’t have the lateral movement or pop to keep Youmbi honest for 10 rounds. As soon as Youmbi gets close and lets his hands go, it’s hard to see this lasting long.
Granted, Zorro has experience, height and reach on his side, but Youmbi is quite clearly the more athletically gifted fighter and one with a much higher ceiling than Zorro.
With Zorro lacking any spite in his punches, and his issues with punch resistance in his last two fights, it looks to me like he is a sitting duck against a wrecking ball like Youmbi.
There’s one thing to have experience, but Zorro doesn’t have the edge in any other aspect. He’s not overly quick, strong, skillful or defensively sound. Youmbi has the advantage in every area other than a three inch reach deficit and a four inch height deficit, but this won’t matter in the slightest.
I’m not taking Aloys Youmbi to win by knockout or technical knockout because the odds are way too short. Instead, I think there is value in taking Aloys Youmbi to win in rounds 1-5 at odds of 1.80.
