Following a knockout loss to Hamzah Sheeraz against his first British fighter, Edgar Berlanga has set his sights on another Brit, a fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
Berlanga bounced back from the Sheeraz loss with a first-round stoppage win against Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in March 2025. Taking to X, Berlanga issued a direct challenge to Eubank Jr., signaling his desire for a high-profile stadium event in the UK.
A fight with Berlanga would likely take place at the super-middleweight limit. Eubank Jr. is currently coming off a 2025 campaign that saw him lose to Benn in his last fight in November 2025 at 160. After undergoing health issues after the fight, Ben Shalom revealed Eubank’s next fight will likely be at 168, meaning a bout with Berlanga is possible.
“Me and Chris Eubank Jr. will be a fire fight in LONDON,” Berlanga said
Those comments have been reinforced by reporter Chris Mannix
“Edgar Berlanga has been sorting through what he’s going to do in his next fight, but I’ve been told there are plans in the works to bring Edgar back in the first half of this year. An interesting fight has been discussed with Team Berlanga, and that is a potential showdown with Chris Eubank Jr. [Eubank] is moving back up in weight, and they have discussed a fight … What is holding up those talks is the weight. Eubank Jr, I’m told, wants the fight at 164 pounds. Berlanga says I can’t go any lower than 168. Can they work it out? I don’t know, but that’s a big fight,” Mannix stated
