Brian "BoMac" McIntyre has made his prediction for the Teofimo Lopez vs. Rolando Romero WBA welterweight title fight on August 22nd in Las Vegas — and he is not holding back.
"Teofimo gonna smash that dude. I don't even know why they made that fight. They giving Teofimo another title, man,” Bomac
Romero makes his first defence of the WBA title he won by upsetting Ryan Garcia in May 2025, dropping Garcia in the second round before claiming a unanimous decision. He has since been upgraded from Regular to full WBA champion but enters the fight after more than a year of inactivity.
Lopez is making his welterweight debut while chasing a third world title in a third weight class, having previously dethroned Vasyl Lomachenko at lightweight and Josh Taylor at super lightweight. He is coming off a wide unanimous decision loss to Shakur Stevenson in January — a result most attribute to Stevenson's brilliance rather than any significant decline in Lopez.
Romero brings unpredictable movement and physical strength, but Lopez's athleticism and world-level experience make him a clear favourite. BoMac, for one, sees no contest.
