Callum Simpson Becomes European Champion Against Ivan Zucco

Callum Simpson vs. Ivan Zucco Fight Recap

Less than 20 seconds after the fight began, Simpson was knocked down by looping right hand followed by a straight left. Despite this, the Englishman ended the opening round strongly, putting together combinations while pressing forward. In the second round, both men went toe-to-toe with each other, but it was Simpson who got the better of the exchanges.

Despite being outworked for most of the third, Zucco landed a left hook towards the end that knocked his opponent down for a second time. Following this, Simpson continued to press forward, but started to leave some space between himself and the Italian.

As the fight progressed, Simpson continued to apply significant pressure on Zucco, who grew visibly tired. With plenty of time left in round 10, the Barnsley native landed several consecutive uppercuts that sent his opponent down. Not long after getting up, Zucco was knocked down again from several uppercuts. After a barrage of punches, Simpson scored a third knockdown. It was at that point that Zucco’s corner put an end to proceedings, making Simpson the European super middleweight champion.
