After the latest pound-for-pound rankings update, Canelo Alvarez finds himself at the lowest point of his career.

Back in September, Canelo faced Terence Crawford in what was billed as the fight of the century, with all four super middleweight belts on the line.

Crawford walked away with a dominant win, and took home every one of Canelo’s titles to become undisputed champion in two different weight classes.

The loss also meant that for the first time in more than seven years, Canelo holds no world titles. For many, it feels like a clear sign that his run at the top may be coming to an end.

Canelo Alvarez falls out of Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound top 10

The Ring Magazine pound-for-pound rankings, considered the most credible in boxing, were updated on Monday.

Alvarez was left out of the top 10 for the first time since 2018, when he was suspended for testing positive for a banned substance.

Devin Haney took his spot after winning the WBO welterweight title by beating Brian Norman Jr. over the weekend.

Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez also moved into the top five, overtaking Dmitry Bivol, following another successful defence of his flyweight belts. At the top, Crawford retained his place, followed by Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue.

Canelo may get chance to avenge loss to Crawford

After losing to Crawford, there was talk about whether Canelo would call it a day. But he’s been clear that retirement isn’t on his mind just yet.

Recently, there’s been movement toward a possible rematch. Crawford has said he’d be open to facing Canelo again, and that could be what Alvarez needs to reignite his career.

The American mentioned that he’d like the rematch to happen sometime in early 2026. If it comes together as planned, it would easily be one of the biggest events on boxing’s calendar next year.
