Only a few days remain before Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) defends his titles against Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs).

The fight headlines a Premier Boxing Champions event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. It is being promoted by Canelo Promotions and TGB Promotions, in association with Matchroom Boxing. Fight fans around the world can catch the action as a pay-per-view with Prime Video, DAZN or TrillerTV.

You can also watch Canelo vs. Berlanga through PPV.com without having to commit to a long-term subscription.

Canelo will be defending his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles against Berlanga. The champion was previously undisputed, but lost the IBF title due to not facing the organization’s mandatory challenger, William Scull.

Ahead of their September 14 clash, both Canelo and Berlanga spoke at a final press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.

Canelo vs. Edgar Berlanga Press Conference Quotes

Canelo

“It’s easy to say you’ll knock me out, but it’s much more difficult to do it,” said Canelo. “Saturday night is gonna be very difficult for him, for sure. I’ve prepared for the knockout. I love the feeling of a knockout and I’m gonna do my best to get it done.”

“I just can’t wait for Saturday night. This is going to be a great matchup for the people. Mexico vs. Puerto Rico is always exciting.”

“It’s an honor to fight on this date. Mexican Independence Day is very important for us. It’s very special and I’m very proud to fight for the Mexican people.”

Edgar Berlanga

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime for Team Berlanga,” said Berlanga. “It’s gonna be a firefight this weekend. On Saturday night, I’m gonna make everyone a believer. We have Puerto Rico vs. Mexico and we’re going at it on Saturday night.”

“I’m a knockout artist. Every fighter wants the knockout. We know that he’s a legend and we can’t just go swing for the fences. We have to do it the right way. Sixth-round knockout, that’s what we’re going for. But we’re ready for all 12 rounds if we have to.”

Fight Prediction

Canelo has far more experience on this stage compared to his opponent. After winning the first 16 fights of his career by first round knockout, Berlanga has struggled to impress. Canelo should prove to be too much for the Nuyorican. Expect the champion to win via stoppage in the middle rounds.
