TKO Boxing and Netflix confirmed the three-bout main card earlier this week, and the lineup leaves little doubt that the spotlight will stretch far beyond the headliners:
Undisputed Super Middleweight Championship: Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, 12 rounds
Super Welterweight: Callum Walsh vs. Fernando Vargas Jr., 10 rounds
Super Middleweight: Christian Mbilli vs. Lester Martinez, 12 rounds
Super Featherweight: Mohammed Alakel vs. John Ornelas, 10 rounds
The chief support brings plenty of intrigue. Wal sh, a rising Irish prospect backed by UFC CEO Dana White, faces Fernando Vargas Jr., the son of two-division world champion Fernando Vargas. Meanwhile, Mbilli and Martinez battle for the WBC interim super middleweight title, with Saudi talent Mohammed Alakel also taking center stage.
On Tuesday, Dana White unveiled the six preliminary bouts that will stream free on YouTube starting at 5:30 p.m. ET. Among them is a rematch years in the making between super welterweights Serhii Bohachuk and Brandon Adams. Adams shocked Bohachuk with an eighth-round TKO in 2021 but has struggled since, while the Ukrainian contender has rebuilt his career and enters with momentum.
The prelims also showcase:
Middleweight: Serhii Bohachuk vs. Brandon Adams , 10 rounds
Heavyweight: Ivan Dychko vs. Jermaine Franklin Jr., 10 rounds
Super Featherweight: Reito Tsutsumi vs. Javier Martinez, 6 rounds
Super Lightweight: Sultan Almohamed vs. Martin Caraballo, 4 rounds
Light Heavyweight: Steven Nelson vs. Raiko Santana, 10 rounds
Super Middleweight: Marco Verde vs. TBD, 6 rounds
Heavyweight spotlight: Ivan Dychko, a 35-year-old Kazakh Olympic bronze medalist, takes his biggest step up against Jermaine Franklin Jr., who has shared the ring with Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.
Crawford’s teammate in action: Steven Nelson, looking to rebound from a January loss to Diego Pacheco, meets upset-minded Cuban Raiko Santana.
Next-gen prospects: Olympic silver medalist Marco Verde, Japanese standout Reito Tsutsumi, and debuting Sultan Almohamed all look to shine under the brightest lights of their careers.
From established contenders to world-class prospects, the undercard is designed to build anticipation for the main event between two pound-for-pound greats. With Canelo Alvarez defending his undisputed crown against Terence Crawford, Sept. 13 is shaping up to be a landmark moment for both boxing and Netflix’s foray into live combat sports.
