The much-anticipated matchup between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), which takes place on September 13 in Las Vegas, NV, now has a home for the event.
On Tuesday night, via The Ring Magazine X account, it was announced that Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, will host Canelo-Crawford in what is expected to be the “can’t miss” event of 2025. The 65,000-seat stadium, which originally had a scheduled football game on September 13 between UNLV and Idaho State, has shifted the football game to accommodate hosting one of the biggest boxing events in recent years.
This will be the first combat sports event since its grand opening in 2020. Surprisingly, up to now, the UFC hadn’t been able to create a desired matchup to warrant having Allegiant Stadium host an event, but Canelo-Crawford is being built up as a super fight, so it’s only right that they are the ones that break the artificial wall down.
Now that the venue is locked in, it makes more sense to have the three-city press tour, which has already been scheduled, stopping in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; New York City; and, lastly, Las Vegas, NV, where the fight will take place. The only question is whether the fight will be priced to sell or will it be another WrestleMania 41 situation where tickets at the top are $500 and higher.
