Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to face off on September 13 in their Undisputed Super Middleweight bout, as we preview this upcoming fight.
Canelo, who is the undisputed super middleweight champion, arrives into the fight fresh off a win against William Scull in May. The victory, which he won by unanimous decision with scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 119-109, made him undisputed at 168 pounds for a second time. As for Crawford, he arrives as the WBA junior middleweight champion, a title he won with a unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov last August. The win was a historic one, as it made him a four-division champion. Crawford is up against it since he will move up two weight classes, but as an undefeated two-weight undisputed champion, he has the ingredients to pull off an upset win.
“Everybody has issues with that kind of style. But I’m working for that. And I have the experience to face every style now. I’m different. I have everything to lose because he is coming up two weight classes. But I always like to challenge myself. Terence Crawford is one of the best fighters. But me, too. That’s why I took this fight. You can see the magnitude of the fight.
“He doesn’t have the confidence, he doesn’t have that 100% that he can do it. I’m going to do it. I am a winner. I’m going to win. I can feel it. … “My style doesn’t change. I can do everything. I can box, I can go forward, I can counterpunch, I can do whatever I want. I think this fight is going to be one of the best fights in boxing history. Everything is involved — our legacies. It’s a big moment for boxing,” Canelo said
“Man, listen, he should’ve been at 168 a long time ago. But I was making him take advantage of ‘35, ‘40, ‘47. He naturally walks around big any damn way,. He should’ve been a 168,” McIntyre stated
