Jack Catterall and Harlem Eubank held their final presser ahead of their welterweight clash on July 5.

Catterall enters this bout following a disappointing split decision loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. It prevented him from claiming the title shot against Teofimo Lopez, who holds the WBO belt at 140. Catterall hasn’t competed at welterweight (147 lbs) since 2020, as he makes his return to the division in the hope of finally winning a world title.

Harlem Eubank comes into the fight with a perfect professional record. He has 21 wins to his name, with nine by knockout. He is coming off a successful 2024, having beaten Nurali Erdogan and Tyrone McKenna in his last two fights. Harlem is eying a future fight against Conor Benn, which is on the cards if the latter comes back down to 147 after his rematch with Chris Eubank Jr. Here were the key moments from the presser.

Pre-Fight

“At 31 [years old], that does nothing for me, whereas this one [against Eubank] makes me feel the pressure. He’s an undefeated fighter, who’s hungry, and is stepping up in levels. He believes that I’m the best [British fighter] at 140lbs [now stepping up to 147lbs] and he’s coming to beat me. That makes me think, ‘s***, I need to perform now.’

“I need to go out there and put on a statement. No disrespect to Harlem but, if his name was Harlem Smith, then I probably wouldn’t be interested. “The fact that he’s a Eubank, and his cousin’s coming off a great win, means that people know who he is. “And the fact that Eubank Sr’s going to be there – and I’m going to beat his nephew – should also bring more eyes to the event, which can only be a good thing for me,” Catterall said

“I came into the sport to be world champion, I always believed I could reach that level and I believe that the prize fights, the prize money should come with the prize – which is the world title. And I think it will and regardless what fights are out here, when you become world champion you go into the same fights, the prize is still becoming world champion and you can go and get your rewards from that,” Harlem stated
