The former two-time unified world heavyweight champion had been in Nigeria since his Dec. 19 fight against Jake Paul in Miami. Joshua knocked out Paul in the sixth round at the Kaseya Center. The fight marked Joshua's return to the ring after losing his IBF title to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
No official statement has come from Joshua's management team or family as of the time of this report. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses who saw the collision happen or arrived shortly after. The accident occurred just 10 days after Joshua's victory over Paul, which generated the highest-grossing boxing gate in Kaseya Center history.
