Chantelle Cameron reaffirmed her place among the best in women's boxing, outpointing Mikaela Mayer by unanimous decision to become the WBA, WBC and WBO super-welterweight champion at MPW-06 in Birmingham.
Billed beforehand as a genuine fight of the year contender, the matchup lived up to its billing. Both pound-for-pound stars pushed a punishing pace from the opening bell, trading in a frenetic, unrelenting main event that left little room to settle into a rhythm.
In the end, Cameron came out on top of a tightly contested battle, edging the cards 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94. The win adds further shine to an already impressive résumé — one that already sets her apart as the only woman to have beaten the great Katie Taylor as a professional.
