Former WBC flyweight champion Charlie Edwards returns to the ring on Friday, 5 September 2025, in Dublin’s 3Arena, looking to reignite his career when he meets Mexican veteran Salvador Juarez for the vacant WBC International super flyweight title.
Edwards (20-2, 7 KO’s) has endured a turbulent spell since moving away from flyweight, struggling to find consistency up at bantamweight. After suffering a split-decision loss to Andrew Cain earlier this year, Edwards has now shaved back down to 115-pounds, hoping the super flyweight division is where his sharp technical skills can shine once more.
Juarez (20-9-2, 4 KO’s) by contrast, has been inconsistent in recent years. With multiple losses on his record and limited success outside Mexico, he enters as the underdog.

On paper, Edwards enters with the sharper pedigree. He has competed at world level, beaten solid opposition and remains a polished boxer with slick movement and ring IQ.
Juarez, meanwhile, is experienced but less decorated than the Englishman. He is capable of dragging opponents into long, testing fights. The Mexican is a traditional Mexican fighter; orthodox, rugged, and rarely blown out early. But, he has typically fallen short when stepping up in class.
With Edwards’ career potentially hanging in the balance, his sharpness and supreme technical ability should show up from the opening bell.
With multiple losses on his record and limited success outside Mexico, Juarez enters as the underdog. Still, his experience could test Edwards if the favourite fails to control the tempo. However I don’t think that will be the case.
Edwards’s style points towards a decision win. His lateral movement, jab, and counterpunching should allow him to rack up rounds. Edwards has never been known as a devastating finisher, and Juarez has durability, so it would be a shock to see this end inside the distance.
With his future hanging in the balance, Charlie Edwards must deliver a dominant win against Salvador Juarez. It could also set him up for a late-career push at world level in the super-flyweight division.
My pick for this bout is Charlie Edwards to win by decision or technical decision at odds of 1.36 (Bet 365), you can also pair this with Michael Conlan to win at odds of 1.90.
