On Friday, adding to a drama-filled fight week for the Chris Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs) vs. Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) event was a scale fail in Tottenham, U.K.
Eubank Jr. stepped on the scale and came in at 160.2 lbs. on his first attempt to make the middleweight limit and contracted weight of 160 pounds. Then, on his second attempt, Eubank came in at 160.5 lbs. This will cost Eubank $500,000, and he cannot exceed 170 pounds by tomorrow morning’s weigh-in. On the other hand, the smaller Benn came in at 156.4 lbs. as he moved up from welterweight.
This only adds more fuel to the fire that has been this promotion since it was first announced. Eubank slapping Benn in the face with an egg was the start and it went all bad from there. Now, the two will settle their long, deeply rooted family rivalry in the ring on Saturday night.
