One of the rising parts of the sport of boxing, and one of the rising parts of the sports world in general, is the female game, and what women are now bringing to the table. They are representing themselves with grace, and making an impact in the world of sports that has been dominated by men for so long.
One of the figures in the world of Boxing is Claressa Shields, who has a whole lot of accolades under her belt. She has been a multiple-time Undisputed Boxing World Champion and has won two Olympic Gold Medals in a career that is still going strong. She even has a movie about her life that was released in theaters, and is an overall women's sports icon. She and multiple other figures in the boxing circle refer to her as the GOAT and this has been backed up in the ring many times.
She now has another challenge, which is to move back down in weight to challenge for two more world titles against fighter Kaye Scott.
But is this all the GOAT is focused on?
Or is her attention somewhere else that it probably shouldn't be?
Firstly, this is not a knock on who I believe is the GOAT Claressa Shields, but beef can sometimes be a huge distraction for some fighters. I understand it's all part of the game, but it can weigh on fighters.
However, the upside to all of this beef and all of these issues between fighters is the entertainment factor, and how it can be very fun to watch. This is also why I love Claressa so much, as she always has something to say about someone, and it's always fun hearing her talk.
She has issues with multiple other figures in boxing, such as Jake Paul, MVP, and Alycia Baumgardner, who she had a run-in with earlier this year. That situation happened due to the ongoing feud between the two fighters, where Alycia had run her mouth several times, (which is why Claressa made a diss song about this situation with Baumgardner called, ‘Run Your Mouth’), about Claressa, and Shields had enough of it.
So in true fight-game style, Claressa slapped the taste out of Baumgardner's mouth and was subsequently banned from all MVP events, by the accord of Jake Paul.
Speaking of Jake Paul…
He and Claressa Shields have had a beef that has been going on for years, which all started when a reporter asked if Shields would like to be on a Jake Paul card. She said she would never do that, as she didn't believe Jake had the skill that she had, and even stated that she thought that she could beat up Jake Paul. The war of words has gone on for years, and the two have yet to squash the issue.
But this is only Claressa Shields beefing with people inside of the game of boxing.
What about the beef outside of it?
Remy Ma is a female rapper who is still legally married to the boyfriend of Claressa Shields, Papoose.
Remy apparently cheated on Papoose, and Papoose filed for divorce. He and Claressa have been an item for a while now, and they are everywhere together. This has been an issue, as words have been said on both sides.
Claressa also now has issues with a radio host named Mz Shyneka over a question about her and Papoose's relationship, which then made Claressa get online and call the radio host fat, insult her about her question, and about Mz Shyneka going on other shows talking bad about her.
Couple this with her problems with 50 Cent along with other people, and you have a full-time job of social media responding to do for the GWOAT.
Yes, this is all very messy and entertaining to the masses, but is it good for Shields to have this many issues with a World Title match coming up? In my opinion, yes, for her, it's great. Let me explain.
Claressa is super into herself, and it is in the best way possible.
She feels she is the best, and speaks like it.
The issues she has will push her further, as she will want to prove everyone who says she will lose wrong, and rub it in all their faces.
She will be pushed by all of the negative press and words she gets.
She will be pushed by all the people who don't like her.
She will be pushed not only by her own determination, but by the haters.
And when it gets tough in the ring, the thought that will push her through the hard times will be that she doesn't want anyone to speak of her loss, and have idiotic things to say.
That is what will push her to victory, and that's why in her next fight, she will prove herself as the GOAT once again.
