Conor Benn has defeated Regis Prograis (30-4, 24 KOs) by unanimous decision in the chief support to Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov.

All three judges scored wide for Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) at 98-92.

Benn attacked in the opening minute of round one, landing a right hand to the side of the head. Prograis lost his footing for a brief second, but other than that, there was little to report from the first round.

The second and third rounds hadn’t seen the fight set fire either. A solitary right hand and a double jab in the third were the most exciting portions of the next six minutes.

In the fourth, Benn applied more pressure working the body, while Prograis was offering little in attack. The fifth round followed a similar theme, but Prograis seemed more willing to engage. However, Benn was clearly outworking the American as the halfway stage approached.

There was some success for Prograis, who arguably picked up round six, landing a good left hook. The shot forced Benn to hold on for a brief moment, but he was still far more active than his opponent.

Benn picked up the pace in round seven, dominating much of the round. The Englishman worked well on the inside to land an uppercut to the body during a troubling combination for Prograis. However, the American would land a well-placed jab.

Prograis landed a flush right hand to the face of Benn, which he walked straight into in round 8. However, Prograis’ inactivity in between his attacks had fallen deep behind on the scorecards at this stage. By round nine, Prograis had fallen well behind on the scorecards in my view. Benn began bullying the former two-time world champion, looking much more eager to engage.

By the tenth and final round, Prograis was offering little against a far more active Benn. Who, in the end, recorded a pretty straightforward decision.
