Danny Garcia will headline a card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on October 18 against Daniel Gonzalez, as we preview the upcoming fight.
The fight marks an emotional farewell for the 37-year-old Garcia, who captured world titles at both 140 lbs and 147 lbs. Garcia’s recent ring activity has been sparse; this bout will be only his fourth contest since the beginning of 2020. His most recent outing was a loss to WBA Middleweight Champion Erislandy Lara on September 14, 2024. Garcia’s last victory came back on July 30, 2022, against Jose Benavidez Jr. Meanwhile, Gonzalez brings his own momentum into the bout, currently riding a two-fight winning streak. He secured victories last year against Keane McMahon and Michael Anderson, respectively.
“I can’t underestimate my opponent. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for him. I’ve got to go in there with the classy Danny Garcia mindset. Put that work in with the killer instinct [and] killer mindset. There’s no reason why I shouldn’t be motivated. This is my show, Swift Promotions, I’m the promoter, I’m the boss, I know what I’m getting myself into, and everything’s just motivated me to be a king that day,” Garcia said
“The best way to say goodbye is by fighting here one last time and giving them a tremendous night of boxing full of rising young talent. It’s gonna be the DSG show in Brooklyn once again on October 18,” Garcia added
