On Saturday, October 11, at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, Dave Allen will tackle the 6′ 5½ Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov in the main event of a Matchroom Boxing card live on DAZN.
Ahead of this intriguing heavyweight clash, “The White Rhino” has spoken to BoxingScene, discussing the level gap between Johnny Fisher and Makhmudov ahead of their October 11 showdown.
Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs) was last seen in action on May 17, 2025, delivering a career-best performance, stopping Johnny Fisher in round five of their rematch.
Makhmudov (20-2, 19 KOs) returned to winning ways, defeating Ricardo Brown by first-round TKO, which followed his loss to Guido Vianello.
While speaking to BoxingScene, Allen was asked to explain the level gap between Johnny Fisher and Makhmudov: “League 2 to probably bottom of the prem, being honest. League 2’s a very good standard,” said Allen.
“He’s like probably bottom of the Prem. It’s a big jump. It’s a hard fight. I think I’m an underdog. I think, in boxing people’s eyes, I’m a big underdog. The wider public, obviously…they all think I’m gonna win, because they like me, which is great.
“But I know the crack. I’ve never won at this level. Been beat up a few times at this level. It’s a big ask,” said Allen.
“Will the training be able to show that I am good enough? I don’t know,” added “The White Rhino.”
