We are officially in fight week for the young gunn heavy Top Rank card, which takes place on Friday night at the Theater in Madison Square Garden on ESPN. Headlining the NYC card is a WBO world lightweight title fight between the undefeated champion Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) and the fast-rising future star Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs). This card also features Puerto Rican sensation Xander Zayas, top prospect Abdullah Mason, and the pro debut of Juan Manuel Lopez Jr.
The 36-year-old champion Berinchyk is coming off a year where he only fought once, and that was a split decision victory over WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete. Although the fight was close on the scorecards, watching it from ringside, it appeared more of a one-sided victory for Berinchyk. Now the Ukrainian has to once again defend his title against a tough opponent who will be a betting favorite.
On the other hand, Davis has kept busy, and in 2024, he gloved up three times, with his last fight being a second-round knockout over Gustavo Lemos in November. Even though he’s only had 12 fights, Davis has been adamant about getting a title shot, and Top Rank has delivered the opportunity. Now it’s up to Davis to either show off his star potential and earn his first world title or fold under the pressure of the bright lights.
Per DraftKings SportsBook, Keyshawn Davis is the favorite at -600, and Denys Berinchyk is the underdog at +425.
These timings could change due to the length of the undercard fights.
