Deontay Wilder has made headlines with a recent prediction that puts Anthony Joshua ahead of one of boxing’s all-time greats.

Joshua’s return to the ring is drawing near, though it will not be under the circumstances fans initially expected. The Briton will step back into the spotlight on December 19 in Miami, where he will face Jake Paul in a Netflix event.

The former two-time heavyweight champion accepted the fight after Paul’s scheduled exhibition with Gervonta Davis fell through last month.

‘The Problem Child’ will now be facing a far more challenging opponent in Joshua, who is regarded as one of the best boxers of all-time.

For instance, Wilder recently shared his honest take on ‘AJ’, putting him above one of the sport’s biggest legends.

During a fantasy tournament segment on Daily Mail Sport’s TikTok, Wilder gave his predictions for a bracket of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ had Oleksandr Usyk beating Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali topping Lennox Lewis in one side of the bracket. On the other side, he picked Joshua over George Foreman – a decision that quickly caught fans’ attention.

Joshua was knocked out by Evander Holyfield in the semi-finals, but the focus remained on his matchup with Foreman. The comments were full of strong reactions.

“Joshua over Foreman??? Not a chance.”

“Foreman was literally better in every way in my opinion.”

“Foreman beats Joshua.”

“George Foreman was waaaaaay better than Joshua.”

“Usyk over Tyson and Joshua over Big George…the beating from Tyson Fury was more heavy than I thought.”

“Joshua got knocked out by Dubois?”

“No way Joshua is beating Foreman, what are you talking about?”

“Joshua over Foreman is giving CTE vibes.”

Ali ended up winning Wilder’s fantasy tournament.

Foreman is widely regarded as one of boxing’s all-time greats. In 1973, he captured the heavyweight title with a devastating second-round knockout of Joe Frazier, who had been undefeated at the time.

The win capped off Foreman’s rise from Olympic gold medallist to world champion. After defending his title twice, he suffered his first professional defeat against Ali in ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ in 1974.

Anthony Joshua’s former opponent looking for rematch after Jake Paul fight

Joshua is the clear favourite heading into his December 19 bout against the less experienced and smaller Paul. If he comes through as expected, there will be no shortage of options waiting for him in 2026.

Plans are reportedly underway for a future Riyadh Season event to feature a bout between Joshua and Tyson Fury. Both boxers are anticipated to take part in other fights beyond their expected clash.

One of those opponents could be Kubrat Pulev, who has already put his name forward for a second bout with ‘AJ’.

Pulev told Bloody Elbow: “I’m always going to be ready for Anthony Joshua.”

He also weighed in on Joshua’s upcoming bout: “It is all a show. It’s a circus. Of course, Jake has a chance but not a very big one.”

‘AJ’ stopped Pulev in London in 2020 to defend the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
