On April 4, Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora headlines a Misfits Pro card in association with Queensberry Promotions at the O2 Arena in London. The entire card will stream live on DAZN.
This heavyweight slobberknocker will be the 50th fight for both, and ahead of their showdown, current WBO heavyweight world champion Fabio Wardley spoke to Boxing News and revealed who he would back for the win.
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) was feared throughout the heavyweight division for several years, until his hugely taxing trilogy with Tyson Fury. In more recent years, “The Bronze Bomber” has been largely inactive, suffering back-to-back defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang before his most recent win over Tyrrell Herndon.
Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) has looked on the verge of retirement at different stages during his career, but his come-forward style has seen him become a much-loved figure in British boxing. He has mixed at the highest level, fighting some of the best fighters, including Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Vitali Klitschko.
Previewing the upcoming Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder heavyweight slobberknocker on April 4, Wardley said: “Yeah, look, I feel like Derek definitely has more about him in the last two fights we’ve seen him, in comparison to Deontay Wilder.
“So, yeah, I can understand why he’s the favourite going into it, and I probably would bank on him for the win as well. But again, with Deontay Wilder, you can’t ever rule him out of any second of the fight.
“Chisora just seems to have an infinite engine. Yeah, I think he might be able to wear him through,” added Wardley.
