Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — November 22 can’t come fast enough for Devin Haney. The former undisputed lightweight king and junior welterweight titleholder will debut at 147 pounds against unbeaten WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. on The Ring IV: Night of the Champions card in Riyadh.
Haney (32-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) is chasing hardware in a third division. After years of draining to make lighter limits, he says welterweight unlocks the best version of himself.
“It’s the best I felt… I was killing myself to make that weight,” Haney said. “In my past fights, you saw me more of a shell of myself… I feel a lot better, a lot stronger.”
"They are going to say something regardless."

Haney’s tune-up at 144 pounds a wide decision over Jose Ramirez in May drew heat for its lack of exchanges. He leaned into the criticism this week.
“What do I remember about the last fight? … I was just running the whole fight. That’s what y’all said, right?” he cracked, before adding: “They’re going to say something regardless. I just want to keep beating whoever they put in front of me.”
Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs, 1 NC) brings real bite to the belt. The 23-year-old WBO titleholder is a sharp, athletic puncher who blends counters with explosive raids and he’s been vocal about welcoming Devin Haney to deep water at 147.
History play: Haney targets a third-division world title before age 27.
Legacy leverage: A win positions Haney for mega-fights across the welterweight landscape.
Validation for Norman: Beating a two-division champ cements him as more than the “next guy” at 147.
Haney’s distance control: The jab, feet, and clinch IQ that blunted bigger punchers at 135/140 must translate up a division.
Norman’s pressure windows: Cutting the ring and forcing exchanges early to test Haney’s welterweight durability.
Body work & rehydration: Haney says he’s no longer depleted; Norman’s task is to find out if that extra tank holds when ripped to the ribs.
Tempo swings: If Haney dictates pace, it’s chess. If Norman accelerates in pockets, it’s chaos.
Devin Haney arrives at 147 with a smile, a chip, and a chance to add to his trophy case. Norman stands as a live, dangerous champion eager to spoil the coronation. On Nov. 22 in Riyadh, we find out if Haney’s “big dude” era is the real thing or if the new landlord at welterweight keeps the keys.
