Dillian Whyte (30-3, 20 KOs) believes that there is only one way for Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to beat Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) during their rematch.

‘The Gypsy King’ and ‘The Cat’ are set to meet in a rematch on December 21, 2024 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They were initially set to have their rematch in October, following Fury’s loss to Usyk in May, however, the fight had to be rescheduled.

With the fight date quickly approaching, Whyte gave Fury a few words of advice.

Talking to Adam Catterall and Gareth A Davies at the talkSPORT Boxing show, Whyte was all praise for Usyk’s technical prowess during the fight. He mentioned that Usyk continued to press Fury throughout the fight, which was not something that many boxers could do. Notably, Whyte faced Fury in London on April 23, 2022, losing to him via a 6th-round TKO.

“He pressed Fury in the front foot. Defensively, it was weird because normally we expect the box to move around, but he was pinged Fury in the front foot from the first second,” he said while talking about Usyk’s ring IQ. Moreover, while Fury struggled on his front foot while Usyk put him under immense pressure, it was a cakewalk for the latter. “Usyk seems to be able to do both at a split second; he can go back front switch it’s very difficult,” he said.

Whyte believes Fury should recreate the magic he did during the Steve Cunningham fight in 2013. While Cunningham initially knocked down Fury, he came back stronger and ‘clinched’ the victory with a few questionable moves. “Be dirty and have a goal,” Whyte said, “You can’t write him off and say he’s going to lose again. He has been on the can so many times he got up on win, he’s had rematches, and you know he’s been down and come back.”

“He’s A Weirdo”

However, if there is one thing that Whyte only knows too well about his former opponent, it’s that he is very unpredictable. Whyte mentioned that there is a high chance that Usyk might not know what Fury has under his sleeve. “He’s a weirdo, he does weird things. I mean, you never know what he’s gonna do,” he said during the same interview. The hosts also agreed with Whyte that picking a winner between the two was hard.

“You never know what Fury’s doing man. You never know what he’s going to do,” Whyte added. “He even said it himself; he wakes up in the morning and doesn’t know what’s going on by lunchtime.”
