Eddie Hearn And Jake Paul Settle Their Lawsuit
Anthony Behar

Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul’s lawsuit has now been settled after both sides agreed to dismiss it.

The legal battle started after The Problem Child alleged that Hearn had bribed the judges in the following two bouts. The first was Katie Taylor’s victory over Amanda Serrano in their first bout via a split decision. The other was in reference to Oleksandr Usyk’s win over Anthony Joshua in their rematch. Although Usyk was the superior fighter, he only got a split decision win, making the bout much closer than what it actually was.

Paul alleged that Hearn bribed judge Glenn Feldman. Those comments were damaging for Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing brand, which has established itself as a leading global promotional company. Hearn sued Paul in a $100 million defamation lawsuit. Jake could have retracted the comments but failed to do so. Paul’s legal team tried to get the lawsuit dismissed. However, that failed to happen as the legal battle continued. But those issues have now been resolved.

Lawsuit

“It is hereby stipulated and agreed, by the undersigned counsel of record for the parties herein, pursuant to Rule 41(a)(1)(ii) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, that the above-captioned action is dismissed with prejudice and without costs or fees to either party.

“Plaintiffs Matchroom Boxing Limited (“Matchroom”) and Edward John Hearn (“Hearn”), Plaintiff-Intervenor Glenn Feldman (“Feldman”) (collectively the “Plaintiffs”), and Defendant Jake Paul (“Paul”) (collectively referred to herein as the “Parties”) jointly submit this letter to notify the Court that the Parties have entered into a Settlement Agreement. Pursuant to the terms thereof, the Parties expect to file a Stipulation of Dismissal on or before March 31, 2025.”

Implications

The lawsuit has not prevented Paul and Hearn from working together. Taylor will face Serrano in their trilogy fight. Serrano has a lifetime deal with MVP, the company that Paul is a co-founder of. Hearn got the better of Jake since Katie won their first two fights.

The last fight could arguably have gone in favor of Serrano, but her performance was not enough to take the belt away from Taylor. Taylor was also criticized after Serrano suffered a cut. This was following a clash of heads. Taylor was slammed for leaning in with her head, something which Chantelle Cameron also complained about. Jake was looking forward to the third bout.

“It’s only fitting that during Women’s History Month that we are able to announce this must-see trilogy between two of the greatest female athletes of all time, on an all-women’s card,” Paul stated

“Unlike many new and old incumbents in boxing, MVP has, does and will always champion women as equals to men, treating them with supreme respect and we will never compromise on those values. This all-women’s card is not only a testament to how far the sport has come but also the beginning of an even greater push from MVP to elevate the next generation of female fighters,” Nakisa Bidarian said
