Some harsh words have come Canelo Alvarez’s way from a retired fighter.

Terence Crawford had a comfortable win over Canelo last Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Crawford’s control of the bout left little doubt about the outcome, and after it was over, the Mexican legend even went as far as to say that he rates ‘Bud’ higher than Floyd Mayweather.

Following the loss, a former world champion had some sharp comments for Canelo.

Chris Algieri did not hold back in his assessment of Canelo’s performance over the weekend.

The former world champion praised Crawford for his showing but did not think the 35-year-old offered much resistance.

Speaking on Boxing Scene Today, Algieri said: “I had people text me, ‘That was such a great fight’. I was like, ‘Was it really’?

“It was a great performance from ‘Bud’ for sure, but Canelo really didn’t show up and didn’t adjust or make for a good fight.”

Terence Crawford admits one boxer punches harder than Canelo Alvarez

There were plenty of people saying before the fight that Canelo’s power would be too much for Crawford to handle.

But despite having the size advantage, the Mexican star never managed to put his opponent under any real pressure.

And according to Crawford, there is another name in boxing who hits harder than Canelo: Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

“I’ve been hit harder in a real fight. ‘Mean Machine’ hit harder than Canelo, to me, to be honest,” he stated after beating Canelo.
