Jermall Charlo takes on Thomas LaManna on May 31, as boxing fans gave their predictions for this fight.
Charlo boxes at 168 for the first time in his career, having campaigned mostly at 160. Charlo, who is the former WBC Middleweight Champion, defeated Jose Benavidez Jr. in his last fight. That was his first fight since 2021, having been out of the sport for over two years with mental health problems before his return in 2023. Charlo still has plans to box the big names, such as Caleb Plant and Edgar Berlanga, meaning it is vital that he comes out on top.
LaManna is no pushover. His boxing record is currently 39-5-1. LaManna has stopped his last four opponents, having discovered his power since he has a total of 5 KOs overall. LaManna’s only loss took place against the WBA Middleweight Champion Erislandy Lara all the way back in 2021. Here is how boxing fans saw the fight playing out.
“I’ll be a fool to try to overlook him. That’s not what I’m doing. I’m Jermall Charlo. This is my legacy. This is my career. I’m putting it all on the line. Now I understand why Canelo and them, all the big names, GGG at the time I was at 160, I see why they would say, ‘High risk, low reward.’ But I’m not that saying towards LaManna in no type of combative way. I’m just saying, naturally, me beating him in fashion and doing what I do best, get out there and win the fight, I probably won’t get the thumbs up and the likes from the fans. It’s gonna be expected,” Charlo said
“I feel ready to fight. We put the work in this camp. It’s been a long journey to this point and I’m ready to go. I learned from the Lara fight that I can’t let the moment get to me. If I can do that all throughout the week and get there to fight night, it’s gonna be a long night for Charlo,” ” LaManna stated
