Boxing fans have hit out at the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. PPV price, which has been set at $59.99.
Paul faces Chavez Jr. on June 28 in his first fight of 2025. He defeated Mike Tyson in his last fight via a unanimous decision in a bout that failed to live up to the hype. The 57-year-old Tyson was no longer the same fighter, while the Netflix stream suffered numerous technical difficulties, much to the dismay of fans. However, the fight broke records, becoming the most-streamed boxing fight ever.
There were reports that Paul earned $40 million from the fight. While Chavez Jr. is a step up in class, he is no longer the same fighter who was once up-and-coming. Chavez Jr.’s previous win was against Uriah Hall last year when he boxed on the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry card. That was his second win since 2021, but he is also a former WBC Middleweight Champion, giving Paul some credibility.
The fight also goes against the UFC 317 card. The card is headlined by Charles Oliveira and Ilia Topuria, who will fight for the vacant lightweight title, which became available after Islam Makhachev moved up. The fight has plenty on the line, with Topuria having the chance to become a two-weight world champion. That fight also involves two fighters, who are at the top of their game. Boxing fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the price.
