WBA super flyweight champion Fernando Martinez (17-0, 9 KOs) will defend his title against the former champion Kazuto Ioka (31-3-1, 16 KOs). The two met in July and it was for the IBF and WBA titles. Martinez earned a one-sided unanimous decision victory and became a unified champion, but the IBF got in the way, making this fight on New Year’s Eve only for the WBA strap. Ioka tends to look better in rematches, so it’ll be interesting to see if he has another great performance in him or if Martinez sends him into retirement.
