Throughout his career in boxing, Jake Paul has continuously received criticism from Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
Last week it was shockingly announced that Jake Paul will take on WBA world lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in a huge super fight on November 14.
The fight came as a shock not only because of the huge step up in opponent for ‘The Problem Child’, but because he was seemingly locked into talks to take on Anthony Joshua in a mega fight.
Despite booking to fight ‘Tank’, soon after, the 28-year-old hinted that a potential fight against Joshua is not completely dead and buried, hinting that he will fight him in 2026.
Although Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has always been relatively critical of Paul’s involvement in the sport, he was clearly open to negotiating a potential fight against Joshua.
And with ‘The Problem Child’ having picked the undefeated ‘Tank’ instead of waiting for a potential fight against the former heavyweight champion, former champion Carl Froch believes Hearn and Joshua have been ‘hustled’.
“Jake Paul has played an absolute f—— blinder, he got Eddie Hearn hook line and sinker,” Froch said on his YouTube channel.
“Eddie Hearn took the bait, gave him his free publicity… Thinking this would be big money… Jake Paul just ripped the a— out of Eddie Hearn… Eddie has been played in my opinion, Jake Paul has played a blinder, he’s proper lured him in.”
Froch has always been extremely critical of Paul and has openly labeled his fights as ‘clown show’ fights.
“I don’t think the fight between AJ and Jake Paul is gonna happen, I really don’t, Jake Paul is stupid but he ain’t that stupid,” Froch continued.
According to Froch, a fight between Paul and Joshua is completely out of the realms of possibility, however, as ‘The Problem Child’ has always shown, he consistently proves doubters wrong.
Despite that, Hearn broke his silence on Paul vs Davis recently, claiming that if Paul loses the fight, it ruins any chances of a potential clash against the British heavyweight.
