Frank Warren Targets March for Usyk–Wardley Undisputed Heavyweight Title Fight

LONDON — Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren says Oleksandr Usyk will defend his undisputed heavyweight crown against mandatory challenger Fabio Wardley in March, with the bout likely to land at either Wembley Stadium or Riyadh.

“The fight has been ordered… there will be a period of negotiations now,” Warren said. “If we can’t reach an agreement, then it will go to purse bids. I believe we will reach an agreement… I think it will be some time in March.”

Two-stage shortlist: Wembley or Riyadh

Usyk’s last two wins over Tyson Fury came in Riyadh in 2024, while he also reclaimed the IBF strap to become a three-time undisputed champion at Wembley earlier that year vs. Daniel Dubois. Wardley, meanwhile, has stoppage wins in Saudi (vs. David Adeleye, Frazer Clarke) and is fresh off his dramatic 11th-round TKO of Joseph Parker at London’s O2.

“I’d love it in the UK… there are only two places for this fight and that’s either in Riyadh or here in London,” Warren said. “I’d do it at Wembley and it would be a sellout.”

Wardley’s improbable rise—and real firepower

The Ipswich native Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) has gone from white-collar novice with zero amateur experience to No. 1 contender, boasting the highest knockout percentage among current heavyweight contenders. His Parker finish extended a run that’s turned him into a bona fide draw.

“As a draw, Fabio is one of the biggest in boxing,” Warren noted, citing 27,000 who braved heavy rain to watch Wardley in Ipswich. “There are levels… but then there is Fabio Wardley, who has a leveler. If he catches you, you’re out.”

Usyk the favorite—danger still real

Usyk, The Ring’s No. 2 pound-for-pound, will justifiably open as a strong betting favorite, but Warren insists Wardley’s power is a live equalizer.

“Of course Usyk will be a massive favourite… But if Fabio catches him, he’ll need an extraordinary chin to stand that force.”

Wardley returns home for brief down time with his partner and young daughter before camp; Usyk rehabs and reloads. The road to undisputed in spring 2026 runs through a marquee venue and a showdown of skill versus sledgehammer.
