Gervonta Davis finally addresses Jake Paul fight collapse, accusing rival of causing it

Gervonta Davis has suggested that Jake Paul pulled out of their scheduled fight because of an injury sustained in sparring, rather than the legal issues that Paul cited.

The two were set to meet on Netflix last November, but the bout was called off after a civil lawsuit was filed against ‘Tank’ by his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel. The suit was brought forward in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and the fight was subsequently cancelled.

Now, instead of facing Davis, Paul is preparing for a more challenging opponent in Anthony Joshua. The match is set for December 19th. But according to Davis, there is more to the story than what has been reported.

Davis had been keeping a low profile since the cancellation, but on Monday he resurfaced on X to address the situation. He did not hold back, telling his followers what he believed was the true reason behind Paul’s withdrawal.

“He was getting his a– beat in camp,” Davis wrote in a now-deleted post that remained online for only a few hours.

“I was gonna do him bad… But everything happens for a reason that’s why I didn’t trip.”

He also responded to the lawsuit allegations, claiming: “Shawty has a whole history going after men for money… It’s me so y’all believed it. Y’all couldn’t wait. More opportunities in da [sic] future though.”

‘Tank’ then criticised Paul’s promotional company Most Valuable Promotions, which is co-run by former UFC COO Nakisa Bidarian.

“MVP couldn’t uphold nothing. Al [Haymon] had to come in to take over everything… MVP IS GARBAGE! Y’all run nothing at Netflix. Y’all are just workers,” posted Davis.

Jake Paul offers his side of the story on Gervonta Davis fight cancellation

During a stream with N3on and Adin Ross, Jake’s brother Logan Paul spoke about the fight falling through, pointing to more than just the recent legal trouble surrounding Davis.

“The problem is his repeated issues with women,” Logan said, while Jake added: “he needs a good friend in this fight, we’re praying for him.”
