Golden Boy Promotions Announce Signing of Joshua Garcia

Garcia Career Recapped

Garcia has shown his ability in his eight professional fights and is destined for more progression under the Golden Boy banner. He discovered boxing, when his father took him to a local boxing gym, with the hope Garcia would learn to defend himself. The youngster quickly fell in love with the sport and ultimately chose to pursue it full-time. After a short but successful amateur career, the youngster turned professional in 2021 and won his debut by first-round KO against Boris Garcia Escalante.

His last fight saw him win a tough split-decision contest against veteran Diuhl Olguin.

Joshua Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya Speak on Deal

The 21-year-old prospect revealed his excitement regarding the deal: “First and foremost I’d like to give all praise to God because without him none of this would be possible. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to fight and be promoted by the best in the business.”

He continued: “Thank you Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez for this amazing opportunity, you won’t be disappointed. I will take full advantage of it and represent GBP to the best of my abilities and ultimately become your next world champion. I want to give a special thank you to my mom and dad for always believing and supporting me in every way possible. Thank you to my manager Joel De La Hoya for making this signing with Golden Boy Promotions a reality.”

“Garcia is a top-flight prospect with tremendous skills and has already shown at the age of 21 that he can overcome adversity — coming back from a knockdown to win his last fight,” said Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya.

He added: “El Americano joins a loaded roster of prospects at Golden Boy Promotions, and we look forward to helping him progress up the ranks of the super featherweight division.”
