Haney Eyes IBF Unification

Devin Haney appears to be targeting IBF welterweight champion Liam Paro for his next fight, with a post on X signalling his intent to pursue unification at 147 pounds.

Haney had been lined up to defend his WBO title against Keyshawn Davis, but those negotiations reportedly collapsed over a purse dispute. A potential October date against Jack Catterall has also been discussed, though questions are now emerging over whether Catterall was ever the real target — or simply leverage to draw Paro into negotiations.

Paro says he is ready: "I've said I'm good to fight and we ain't heard a thing," the Australian champion said.

Catterall's team, meanwhile, insists they have done everything asked of them: "All I can tell you is we've accepted the fight and the date and location," said Catterall's representative. "If the fight doesn't happen, it's not on Jack."

The concern from Catterall's camp is that their fighter has been used as a bargaining chip: "What I hope isn't the case is that Jack is being used as a decoy," his representative added. "Paro is scared of taking the fight for less money than he's wanting."
