The late Ricky Hatton could be in line for more accolades, with suggestions he could enter the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame.

Hatton, who passed away on September 14 at the age of 46, was given an emotional send off as fans gathered for a public procession on October 10. Hatton’s legacy rests on his achievements as a two-weight world champion, having held titles at junior welterweight and welterweight. He also gave British fans some of the biggest fights, taking on Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.

However, in his post-fighting life, Hatton became just as well known for being an advocate for mental health awareness, speaking openly about his own battles with depression and substance abuse following his retirement. Hatton was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class and now more accolades could follow. There are suggestions that Hatton could be inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame.

“He was such a great guy. We were looking forward to hosting Ricky here in Vegas and celebrating his boxing career and the epic fights that he had here on our Las Vegas strip,” NVBHOF (Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame) source

Hatton’s Image

Hatton cultivated one of the most passionate and loyal fan bases in all of sports, famously leading thousands of supporters (known as the “Blue Army”) to Las Vegas for his mega-fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. This ability to generate massive revenue and global attention—a critical measure of a fighter’s true stature—far outstripped many of his contemporaries.

In his retirement, this widespread fame transitioned into a powerful platform for public good. By becoming a brave and candid advocate for mental health awareness, speaking openly about his own struggles with depression and substance abuse, Hatton showed a new side to him. This openness helped destigmatize mental health challenges, inspiring countless others.
