Filip Hrgovic has claimed that a KO artist refused to fight him.

Hrgovic, who has destroyed Eric Molina, defeated Joe Joyce and finished Dempsey McKean, is a huge favorite going into the bout with the Englishman.

Interestingly, Adeleye wasn’t the world-level operator’s first choice.

Filip Hrgovic says Martin Bakole rejected fight offer

Filip Hrgovic claims that Martin Bakole turned down a clash on the Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte undercard.

The power puncher hasn’t boxed since drawing with Efe Ajagba on May 4.

In an interview with talkSPORT, he said: “Martin Bakole was the first guy that was offered, and he said ‘no’, and I said ‘yes’, and that fight didn’t happen.

“Then they offered this guy, Adeleye. He accepted, I accepted, and that’s it…

“I don’t know [why]. It just didn’t happen. Boxing is a strange business sometimes.

“A lot of things happen behind the scenes, and you never know what is going on.”
