Raymond Ford took on Abraham Nova in his third fight since losing to British Nick Ball.
In 2024, Raymond Ford defied the odds as he scored a stoppage in the final seven seconds of a fight he was behind in against Otabek Kholmatov to claim the world title.
After his biggest win to date, Ford fell short in the Matchroom vs Queensberry 5v5 against Britain’s only reigning world champion, Nick Ball.
He has since picked up two wins, before fighting on the undercard of Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte against a very game Abraham Nova.
After 10 hard-fought rounds, Ford was awarded a unanimous decision victory over the durable opponent.
The 24-3-1 Nova had given a great account of himself against the former world champion in Ford, and set the tone for what the Riyadh card might have to offer.
A fan criticized Nova’s game plan, suggesting he may have had the tools to beat Ford if he had worked a little smarter,
“Nova has the longer reach, instead of boxing, he his brawling He could make this fight easier for him but he wants a ko.”
Another suggested Ford was just that little bit too good for Nova, “Nova is bringing it but hes always just a step behind.”
One fan, however, was unimpressed, and declared that Ford would be “food for O’Shaquie Foster’.
Nova lost by split decision to Foster, and a fight between Ford and the 23-3 super-featherweight champion could be next for the Camden fighter.
Foster beat Robson Conceicao in his last fight.
Ford shares the card not only with Itauma and Whyte, and Filip Hrgovic, who vows to take David Adeleye’s soul, but also Nick Ball, the only man to defeat him.
Ball will face Aussie boxer Sam Goodman, who was set to face ‘The Monster’ Naoya Inoue, until an injury forced the fight to be axed on more than one occasion.
Ball defeated TJ Doheny in a big win that many hoped could set up a Britain vs Japan bout between the Liverpudlian and Inoue, who mocked Ball after the victory.
A win over Goodman could very well set up the mega-fight sometime soon.
