Carl Froch won the WBC title twice. He also bagged the WBA as well as the IBF belts during his highly momentous career.

For the fighter nicknamed 'The Cobra', being included to the most eminent list of boxers from across the generations is "the highest accolade" possible after a career in which he proudly describes he "conquered the world": that is Carl Froch for you. In 2023 Carl Froch was honoured to pick up his International Boxing Hall of Fame ring.

Froch is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2002 to 2014. He is currently working as a boxing analyst as well as commentator. He held series of world championships in the super-middleweight division, entailing the World Boxing Council (WBC) title twice between 2008 and 2011.

In 2014, Froch thrashed his perennial opponent George Groves in a rematch held at Wembley Stadium. This was his last contest before hanging up his gloves in the subsequent year.

As an amateur, Froch obtained a middleweight bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships and the ABA title twice.

In a recent sit-down with the CoinPoker Press Insights, Froch explained how he acquired nickname ‘The Cobra’.

“The story behind that is I sat with Rob McCracken in an Italian restaurant. We were having a conversation about ring names like Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, and Rob McCracken said there was a fighter called Don Curry back in the day who had the nickname Cobra. I'd never heard of Don Curry before. I looked him up {Don Curry} on Google, good fighter, but Rob said “Carl ‘The Cobra’ has got a ring to it”.

He said, "You’ve got the fighting range of a Don Curry. So that'd be a good ring name to be called ‘The Cobra’”. Rob McCracken gave me the name ‘The Cobra’. Just one night in the restaurant, just chatting away over an Italian," said the former titlist in an exclusive interview with CoinPoker
