Jake Paul is one step closer to becoming a world champion, which he has repeatedly said is his dream. The WBA (World Boxing Association) has ranked Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) at 14 after his victory against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Paul, along with the WBA, stated he would be ranked if he defeated Chavez Jr (54-7-1). He won by unanimous decision after 10 rounds at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.
Paul now becomes eligible to face WBA cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for a world title after his win versus Chavez Jr. Ramirez defended his WBA and WBO belts in the co-main event with a victory by decision against Yuniel Dorticos.
The social media influencer turned boxer, Paul, is ranked ahead of Craig Parker, who is 20-0 with 20 KOs. He is so behind Giovanni Cristian Scuderi, whose last cruiserweight bout was in September 2022 and has since fought at heavyweight. It looks as if the WBA is taking Jake Paul seriously since he is now ranked and eligible for a title shot. But is it time for the rest of the world to take him seriously?
