There are reports that Hughie Fury is in talks to fight Dillian Whyte in Galway, Ireland this July.
Hughie who is 30, is a cousin of former world heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury. In 2024, the athlete had a busy schedule. He won three times after being inactive for two and a half years. He fought three times against Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko, Patrick Korte as well as Christian Thun.
Currently, the Manchester-born fighter focuses his attention to his former sparring rival, Dan Garber.
The Reaper Man, who has a record of 9-4, has emerged victorious in his last two contests since he lost to Viddal Riley in December.
He is yet to activate his account for 2025 though his promoters, GBM Sports, have now revealed that Fury will chin on their card at the Pearse Stadium in Ireland in ‘late July’.
"GBM Sports will be staging an event at Pearse Stadium, Galway in July and Hughie Fury will be on the card. We have several names in contention as an opponent, all of whom are well known. Dillian Whyte is a frontrunner for that slot as we believe that is a fight which would deliver massively for fans in attendance and watching around the world. We look forward to confirming further details of our Galway event in due course," GBM Sports posted on social media.
The 36-year-old ‘Bodysnatcher’ - Dillian had been booked to clash with Joe Joyce in Manchester this weekend, though, was compelled to back off after he cut his finger in a freak gym accident.
Therefore, it appears like the 31-3 (21) Whyte could be accorded the opportunity to embark on the major function in Ireland as he eyes to assert his presence back into the world title space.
