Isaac Cruz vs Lamont Roach Jr Set For December 6 in San Antonio, TX

On Monday afternoon, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) formally announced the long-rumored fight between Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and Lamont Roach Jr. to take place on December 6 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX, live on PPV.

This fight was made after Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) could not secure the rematch with Gervonta Davis, as the latter decided to go a different route and face Jake Paul in November. Once the highly anticipated rematch between Davis and Roach couldn’t be made, Team Roach was working around the clock to secure their fighter an opponent before the end of the year.

That opponent is ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs), who is on a two-fight winning streak that began in February against Angel Fierro and continued with his July victory over Omar Salcido. Since losing a narrow decision to ‘Tank’ Davis in December 2021, Cruz has not only taken all challenges, but his fan base has grown considerably. With this fight taking place in San Antonio, it will surely be packed with his fans, given the city’s large Latin community.

As mentioned earlier, the event will be on PPV, which again is an issue with boxing, as PPV events are too frequent. Since this is going to be on PPV, hopefully those in charge will take a hard look at the price and set it at a reasonable rate. We’ll have to revisit that topic once the PPV price is determined. For now, this great matchup on paper will look to provide fireworks in December.
