The super-welterweight division continues to deliver some good matchups, and the clash between Ishmael Davis and Caoimhin Agyarko is no exception.

Davis (13-2, 6 KO’s) has had a stop-start rise through the domestic ranks, showing flashes of real ability but struggling for consistency. He’ll be looking to get back in the win column on Saturday night after losing to Serhii Bohachuk at the back end of last year.

Agyarko (17-0, 7 KO’s) meanwhile, remains undefeated, but it’s fair to say he hasn’t quite caught fire in recent performances. For all his promise, questions remain about whether Agyarko has the gears to trouble elite opposition.

Ishmael Davis vs Caoimhin Agyarko: Analysis

Davis tends to fight with a chip on his shoulder, pressing forward, trying to impose his physicality, and never shying away from a firefight. That approach makes him entertaining, but it also leaves him open to sharp counters, something an unbeaten opponent like Agyarko will be looking to exploit.

The Irishman is technically tidy, has respectable power, and usually does what’s necessary to win, some call it fighting smart, neutrals may call it being boring to watch.

One of the key talking points is experience. While Agyarko is the unbeaten prospect, he hasn’t yet faced the level of opponents that Davis has. Davis has been in with solid operators, and that experience could serve him well in a fight where mental toughness and ring IQ matters just as much as physical attributes.

Davis vs Agyarko: Prediction & Betting Tips

Davis is durable and unlikely to be overwhelmed, while Agyarko isn’t the type of fighter who blasts opponents out with a single shot. Instead, expect a tactical affair, with Agyarko picking his moments, using movement and timing to edge the rounds.

Davis will have success in patches, particularly when he can back Agyarko up, but over 10 rounds the cleaner, more consistent work should come from the Belfast man, in front of a pro Agyarko crowd.

That said, this isn’t a foregone conclusion. Davis has the experience and aggression to make things uncomfortable, and if Agyarko dips below his best again, the Leeds man winning isn’t out of the question.

The oddsmakers are right to list Davis as the slight favourite due to his experience at a higher level than the Irishman, however, I just believe Agyarko’s style matches up well against the style of Davis. On that note, I’m willing to take Caoimhin Agyarko to win by decision or technical decision at odds of 3.30.
