There was no struggle to make weight this time for Chavez Jr. who has had a history of missing weight, weighed in first at a career high of 198.4 pounds, 1.6 pounds under the cruiserweight limit of 200 pounds. In his last fight against MMA fighter Uriah Hall, Chavez (54-6-1, 34 KOs) weighed in at 197. 3 pounds.
Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) continuing his run against former champions, will look to add another to his hitlist. Chavez Jr., meanwhile, is treating this fight as a shot at redemption and says he’s determined not to be another name on the YouTuber turned boxer’s growing highlight reel. With both fighters locked in and the stage set, fans can expect fireworks when they finally meet in the ring.
Jake Paul has made a career out of fighting former champions who are over the hill. It’s one of the marketing schemes that we’ve ever seen in sports. One by one he’s been knocking fighters out who have no business in the ring. The next targeted victim on that list is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. But Chavez Jr. is trying to use this fight to revive his career. Will he be able to prove that he’s actually focus enough to take out Paul? Tomorrow is make or break for Chavez. Either way for him, he’ll be walking away with most likely will be his last big payday.
