Jake Paul has announced an exhibition bout against former super feather and lightweight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. The fight is set to take place on Friday, November 14, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
The duo confirmed the fight to ESPN on Wednesday, revealing that talks had been ongoing since the start of the year. There were initially plans to move the fight up to after Davis’ face-off against Lamont Roach Jr. to defend his WBA lightweight title. However, these plans fell through after Davis and Roach’s fight ended in a majority draw, and rumors of a rematch in August c irculated. Once the fight was called off, Paul and Davis picked up previous talks, closing on an agreement for a match in November.
“The original timeline assumed that ‘Tank’ would be fighting Jake [Paul] after he fought Roach,” Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said in a statement to ESPN.
“The outcome didn’t necessarily change anything per se, but our timeline of waiting around to see what Davis was going to do resulted in Jake fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.”
Jake Paul gave more details about the fight to ESPN, revealing that it would be live only on Netflix and was expected to break viewership records.
“Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long,” Paul told ESPN. “His nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone and I’m about to disable his ass. Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath, and you are all going watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. Atlanta. Friday, Nov 14th. The worst night of Gervonta’s career, live only on Netflix.”
While there is already a date and venue set up, little information about the contracted weight for the fight and the number of rounds have been revealed. Davis’ weight at 133.8 pounds during his fight with Roach is a far cry from Paul’s current 199.4 pounds.
Bidarian revealed that both parties were still in talks, but confirmed that Jake Paul would certainly come down below his previous 200-pound weight for the fight.
“We’re still figuring that out,” Bidarian said. “Jake will definitely have to come down below his 200-pound weight that he’s been fighting at. I can tell you that we’re going to have a fight that will have a definitive outcome, whether by way of knockout or decision.”
According to previous reports, a face-off between Paul and Jos hua fell through following disagreements over the network. However, an update on Wednesday revealed that there is still some hope for a fight in 2026 between Paul and the two-time world heavyweight champion.
Bidarian revealed as much to ESPN, stating that it was “Just a matter of hitting ‘Go.'” “Jake is looking at it like he wants to show the world that he’s going to fight David and then he plans to take on Goliath,” he added concerning the ongoing negotiations for the 2026 Paul-Joshua fight.
Jake Paul is not the only fighter interested in going up against Joshua. In a previous Instagram post, the now-retired two-weight champion, Andre Ward , revealed that he would like to return to the ring for a fight against the Olympic medalist. Joshua responded by commenting “Pay Day Pay Day” on Ward’s post, referencing an earlier statement by Saul Alvarez.
